Political Folklore as a Mirror of the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity
Abstract
The article examines the political folklore of the protest movement, associated with the so-called Revolution of dignity, which took place in Kiev on the Maidan in 2013–2014. Political folklore is attributed with different forms of individual and collective creative work, such as songs, poems, limericks, jokes, verbal puns, slogans, the content of posters, slogans, drawings, flash mobs, which were actively presented on the Maidan. The study revealed that these forms of protest movements on the one hand were folk art, but on the other – a kind of mature technology for changing modes of state or organizing riots.
