Abstract

The article considers the complex stages of life of V.F. Chernov, the outstanding scientist and organizer of soda production, who made an enormous contribution to the development of the soda industry in the Soviet period. On the base of the identified historical data, the author shows the tragic pages of Russian history during the period of great terror and the civil courage of this representative of the engineering corps in the Western Urals.
