Digitalization and Interpretations of History
Research Article
Abstract
Digitalisation has significantly changed both the methods of specialists working with historical material and the methods of interpreting history. The article shows that digital development goes hand in hand with the strengthening of postmodern stylistics both in history and in culture as a whole, which creates new opportunities for a purposeful influence on historical consciousness. The author summarises the semantic results of the previously mentioned process, and provides Internet projects on historical topics as an illustration of how peculiar socio-technological methods shape violent interpretations of past events. Consequently, historical myths, constructed online are perceived as reality; thus, they are naturalized. This results in the fact that the carefully staged historical knowledge is entrenched in the minds of users.
