Abstract

The orientation of the political elites of European states since the end of World War II has been characterized by clearly expressed aspirations to strengthen international integration, transfer of power to supranational administrative contours of both regional and global scales, the peak of which was probably reached at the beginning of the second decade of the 21st century. Since the second decade of the 21st century, European countries have seen an increase in the popularity of the ideas of Euroscepticism, anti-globalism, as well as the strengthening of national sovereignty, accompanied by an increase in the political weight of nationally oriented elites within the member states of the European Union. In this regard, the study of the features of the modern European «right turn», as well as the impact of the phenomenon on the prospects of the European Union, is of particular relevance.
